The Idea Fairy.

March 30, 2007

Richard Bach, author of the metaphysical classics, Jonathon Livingston Seagull and Bridge Across Forever, noticed that the Idea Fairy came to him when he was gardening, or flying in a plane. That’s when he’d get his storyline ideas and life solutions.

Call it what you want: the zone, the flow, the magical gap, the illuminating silence…there is a place in space and time where we tend to think and feel most clearly. And in that place, ahaa’s, creative genius, strategies, and revelations tend to flow our way.

THIS WEEK: Identify when and where the Idea Fairy likes to visit you. Notice how solutions enter your being. Maybe it’s when you’re talking to a particular friend or associate (interaction). For Carrie, it’s in her car or on a morning run (movement). For Danielle, it’s in the bathtub or washing the dishes (water). We’ve heard other people’s idea Fairies like to show up after a good meal or great sex, first thing in the morning, or just as they’re drifting off to sleep.

The Idea Fairy can be slightly unpredictable. She won’t always show up when you’re in the zone. But she really appreciates being invited. And when she does appear, you can count on getting some custom-made magic.
EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Carrie & Danielle will be speaking and conducting Style Statements in Dallas April 5 – 8! Check out the Discovering the True You event, sponsored and hosted by Renee Rouleau: http://www.reneerouleau.com/Events/Events.aspx

The Idea Fairy — I love it.

Mine used to visit me in the shower on a regular basis… for a while, I even considered mounting a waterproof chalkboard of some kind in the shower, so I could write down all the great inspirations that came.

I like how you tied together the themes, like movement and water. I hadn’t put those together before… it gives me something to watch for.

  2. [...] How? Because of that “between the worlds” piece we just talked about. You “know” things through your heart that your mind can’t know yet, because your heart receives whispers and messages from that internal connection, even when your focus is on more worldly activities. [...]

  3. I just had one this morning. It was perfect. And of course I couldn’t help but write and post a poem about it.
I guess for me Nature, Trees, but also the wind. I’m way over calling it ’silly really’.
Thanks for sharing, it’s a great post.

  4. [...] that was when the Idea Fairy swooped down and bonked the side of my head with its magic [...]

  6. i love the concept of the “idea fairy” !! … i think people who know me best will say, the idea fairy is attached at my hip 24/7 … i think I need a the “clean up fairy” if there is such a thing, the fairy that can help me with calming down the “idea fairy once in a while” so we can pin down one idea and make it work … or maybe the idea fairy needs a friend like the “filtration fairy”

all in all, I like the fairies who keep me positive and push me to always think outside the envelope, now if only they would let me turn my night owl schedule into a an early bird morning schedule, or to let me sleep in bed alone without the idea fairies chattering away

the idea fairy likes to visit at night and keep me up with all sorts of evolutions on existing ideas … I’m now currently working on an “by appointment” visit with the idea fairy so I can start to get some better nights of sleep

( a pleasant visit from the mail man Friday dropped off my weekend surprise) a great idea suggested by my love (Evan) Monday Bedtime Dates. He bought 3 copies of “Style Statement” his sister, sister-in-law and I start reading. As Evan suggested “I think we can start with a date in bed of reading” sharing the silence of letting our brains wine down and detach from our daily ideas to soak in a good read

… Inspired to hear of your success story and that our Tanya was a part of this amazing jewel of a project … I just had to share how excited I am to have Tanya introduce me to your amazing concept and am looking forward to sharing bedtime reading with my Evan so that I can make a more structured appointment schedule with my idea fairy …
